have just had a skincare consultation with Paula at Pure – very revealing! There was me thinking I had dry skin, when in fact I have normal skin with an oily T Zone. By using the wrong products, I had been agravating the condition and my skin was suffering. Paula recommended that I use an oil based cleanser and a great moisturiser from the Environ AVST range, (http://www.environ.co.za/ranges/avst-range). The range contains vitamins A & C and antioxidants which are designed to provide a complete skin care programme. I have already noticed a huge difference and a definate improvement in my skin. You can see Paula for a FREE SKINCARE ASSESSMENT. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it! Visit our skincare page for more information (link here to skincare page please)
We can get some really amazing results with Juvederm dermal filler – see the photos below. A simple way to make you look more youthful and 'fresher' and to enhance your self confidence. Read more about facial aesthetics at Pure here. We are also offering FREE consultations at Pure.

I just thought I would show you all what a difference a simple tooth coloured filling can make. This procedure would probably take just under an hour, and see what a huge improvement it makes to the teeth! No more grey, unslightly filling, just a natural looking tooth. Why not invest in your smile, and ask us to replace your ugly silver amalgam fillings???
Hello all. I can't believe that we are over a third of the way through 2011 already!
I hope every one has had a lovely Easter and enjoyed the incredible summer weather we've had!
I submitted my 2 final law dissertations on April the 6th and so I have been free to thoroughly enjoy this beautiful weather with my fiancé. We have recently developed a love for gardening and walking. We have both been outside giving our very unkempt garden some much needed attention and I really love watching my bulbs and seeds start to thrive in this beautiful weather. I've inadvertently managed to get myself a nice tan at the same time! We've bought some books on Cornish circular walks and managed to take a couple over the weekend, we really do live in a stunning part of the world!
Last week Pure Dental launched the Pure Study Club at the Business Space in Truro. Lots of dentists from Cornwall were in attendance to hear a presentation by the really motivational and inspirational business coach Chris Barrow. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and thought that Chris was absolutely brilliant! Given the feedback we have received, it looks as though the Pure Study Club is set to be a very successful event this year!

We are delighted that Jason at Pure has been voted the 16th most influential person in UK dentistry!! What a fabulous achievement ! It’s very well deserved and the team at Pure are very proud of him http://bit.ly/flCUoj

Take a look at our fabulous patient testimonials on The Best Of Truro website. The team are thrilled with such great feedback!
Why don’t you call us today on 01872 222404 to get the same great care and become part of the Pure family?Hello All! Well the weather is certainly lovelier than it was when I last blogged! Spring is truly in the air and its so lovely driving to and from work in the daylight again. I have a special reason for being excited about Spring and Summer this year as it will be the first time that I have been able to properly enjoy my favourite seasons in 6 years! Studying for my law degree has taken up most of my spare time through the summer months which has probably been the hardest part of the whole thing! Fortunately, I will be finished in just over 4 weeks time and the I will be waiting patiently for my results IN THE SUNSHINE! However, no rest for the wicked as the date has been set for my wedding next year (2nd June) and I need to pull my socks up and start organising the big day! I’m relying on the girls to make sure I don’t turn into the next Bridezilla!

I just wanted to let all our patients know about the 'Dental Health Checks' at Pure Dental. You may know them as 'check-ups' or 'examinations' and you may think it is 'just a quick look' - but the team at Pure believe the 'Dental Health Check' forms a vital part of your ongoing oral health. The Dental Health Check is health focused; we are not looking for problems, primarily we are looking for health; our checks include;

The Team at Pure Dental are delighted to announce the launch of the Pure Study Club. The Study Club is for dental practitioners based in Cornwall and the aim is to provide Pure Excellence and Training in ‘hot topic’ areas of clinical education and business development. The training environment will be supportive and education based, with a few social events along the way!

Jeremy and I attended the Dentistry Show at the NEC in Birmingham at the weekend. It was a great event with some fantastic speakers and the opportunity to listen to some fabulous presentations. Jeremy was speaking at the Dental Business Conference and delivered his excellent presentation with great success!

Hello All! I’ve just come back from a fun-filled holiday in London with Grant, we had a great time and didn’t stop the whole time we were there! We managed to get tickets to the key ceremony at 9.30pm at the Tower Of London, which was fantastic and great to be part of a 700 year old tradition. We went back the next day to see the crown jewels and the rest of the Tower with a Beefeater guide before going on the London Eye and later seeing Les Miserables at the theatre. We were true tourists but loved every minute of it!

Hello Everyone! Well, it seem’s like I have well and truly caught the running bug – after successfully competing in the Great South Run last year, I have now signed up to run the Loch Ness Marathon in October this year! I chose the Loch Ness Marathon because the route is supposed to be absolutely breathtaking and I’ll certainly need something spectacular to take my mind off the 27 mile race! Even though I have plenty of time to prepare, training begins now as I am hoping to complete the race in sub 4 hours. As part of the training, my husband and I are taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge in Yorkshire on 23rd July. The 25 mile hike starts from Horton in Ribblesdale and go’s through the Yorkshire Dales National Park and over three of the highest peaks in Yorkshire – Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Phew……. I think I need a lie-down already!!!

Last Friday I had a skin consultation with Paula, our Facial Aesthetic Practitioner. It was very interesting to hear all the information she gave me about how each layer of skin is made up, I am also using a moisteriser she recommended and it makes my skin feel so soft and in less than a week I can already a notice a difference in texture! Paula is still offering FREE assessments – so hurry up and call in whilst the offer lasts, I would certainly recommend it!
Hi All – with my wedding plans moving quickly and the 6 month mark rapidly approaching, I decided to have the Inman Aligner to straigthen my upper teeth. I chose this method for 2 reasons, 1) It’s removable and 2) the treatment time is relatively short, about 6 weeks!, so it will all be completed in time for the wedding!!! I am amazed, I can already see some improvement after only 1 week and it is really comfortable to wear. I will let you see some photos soon……….

I recently spent a week in the Alps getting my winter “fix” of ice climbing in Chamonix in Italy; one of Europes most famous and best ice climbing areas. I managed to climb every day and the weather was fantastic, cold and sunny, perfect alpine winter days! A perfect way to get rid of those winter blues and lift the spirits

This will enable the whole Pure team to take really fantastic before and after photos of patient’s dental treatment. It also enables us to show and discuss the images with you in more detail -you can show us how you would like to improve your smile!
Hi everyone and Happy New Year! This Christmas has been so chilled, it’s been lovely. I spent the weeks running up to Christmas anxiously awaiting my law exam results so I was absolutely delighted when news came through 5 days before Christmas that I had received a distinction! There were a few celebratory glasses of champagne after that I can tell you and I was able to really relax into the Christmas spirit.
I have really high hopes for 2011. I’m so excited about finishing my degree in a matter of weeks and attending my graduation as well as properly starting to plan my wedding in June 2012!
Its really nice to be back at work will all the team, we are all fired up to make the service we provide for our patients better and better and I think there are some really great things to come! Nikki will be keeping you all updated on the website as well as Facebook and Twitter, so get following!!! Xx![]() |

'Thought you would all like to see some before & after photos of some Tooth Whitening we recently carried out. The patient was understandably thrilled with the results! Why don’t you give us a call and schedule some whitening for the New Year?'
.

‘I recently attended an intensive Periodontal Plastic Surgery course in Barcelona. The course was run by Dr Pal, a world renowned specialist in his field and took place over 5 days, with intesive lectures and live surgery demonstrations. In basic terms, the course will allow me to carry out minimally invasive, microsurgical techniques to improve the health and appearance of gum tissue around teeth & Implants. This is extremely important for our patients as creating beautiful smiles also requires healthy atttractive gum tissue to “create the frame for the picture”.

‘Seasons Greetings everyone! I have been at the Practice now for just over 2 months and have really enjoyed my new role. Its been lovely to meet and chat to the patients and working with a fantastic team too, I’ve been made to feel very welcome! The dentistry profession is a new challenge for me and I’m keen to know and understand more as the months progress.
Outside of work I’ve been busy Christmas shopping, singing carols at various concerts and having a go at making chutney for the first time! I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and we’ll look forward to seeing you in the New Year’.

‘The snow has create havoc for some of our poor patients and staff over the last 2 weeks. Apparently, we are due for another heavy downpoor tomorrow in time for the weekend!! I would advise all patients to ring the practice first thing in the morning on the day of your appointment if we have snow – just to check if all staff are available to carry out your treatment. We appreciate you all have busy schedules and only cancel appointments where absolutely necessary. Our reception team will be able to tell you if your appointment is still scheduled – alternatively, please make sure you listen to our emergency answermachine message for advice. Please all take care and be safe in these icy conditions’.
Patient Feedback – Your Views

‘I spent much of yesterday reviewing our ‘patient satisfaction surveys’ and was delighted to get such fantastic feedback from our patients. It seem we are providing a really great service, one patient commented “thank you for a 1st class experience”. I am thrilled with the feedback and can only thank my wonderful team here at Pure for making this possible. A few of you commented that the reading material could be better in Jasons waiting room; we are taking this on board and will be buying a new magazine rack to hold a wider selection of magazines. We also make sure we light oil burners each day to get rid of that ‘dentist’ smell that you dislike. Thank you for taking the time to complete the surveys – your input to the practice is much appreciated’

‘After the bad snow we had there were discussions of our radiography exam being cancelled, fortunately it wasn’t and you’ll be please to know I got there safely and I am really happy with the way the exam went. It was also nice to have a day trip to Exeter and get some sneaky Christmas shopping in too! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and wish you many happy returns for 2011’
Whitening wednesdays!!

‘Christmas is nearly here! And if you’re anything like me, you’ll be looking forward to mince pies, cream, Christmas cake, mulled wine, choccies and more choccies! But remember to look after your poor teeth – it’s the constant grazing on surgary snacks throughout the day that causes the damage and tooth decay. The most important thing you can do is to make sure you use a fluoride mouthrinse after brushing your teeth before bedtime, and don’t eat anything else afterwards. Other than that – enjoy!!’
Well, what a fantastic week and its only Wednesday! Jason published an article in a dental magazine this month and I was very please to see my name in print as his RDN! I’ve also been very busy revising with Lou for our radiography exam! Less than 2 weeks now, how quick time does fly! Well, wish us luck and we will keep you updated with results as soon as we know. I would like to wish all our patients a lovely christmas if you don’t hear from me before.
A Tale of Two Veneers - Nov 2010 Download
October has been a very busy month for me and I can’t believe it is nearly Christmas! Am I allowed to say that yet?
You’ll be pleased to hear that I finally passed my driving test however my boyfriend seems a little reluctant for me to drive his car! We had a lovely week off recently where I got the chance to visit my brother and beautiful niece in Exeter, go to the aquarium in Plymouth and visit the roman baths in Bath which was a really enjoyable experience, we also had time to do a spot of shopping in Bristol! However now it is all eyes down as I fit in some revision for my Radiography Exam in December. With the help from all the staff at Pure Dental I was able to complete a portfolio of 50 radiographs and write 3 case studies which were submitted at the beginning of October. The exam is the final part of the course which I am looking forward to completing! Then I can relax for the Festive Season…….!
Just thought you would all like to see the fantastic work Jason has recently done on my teeth. The photo shows two molars that have semi-direct onlays – these onlays were hand-made by Jason! I don’t know about you, but I think they look like natural teeth. This is a fairly new technique that Jason is using – the benefit to the patient is that this can all be achieved in one treatment session, the onlay is extremely hard wearing, and it doesn’t require preparation for a laboratory made crown or onlay which also reduces the cost!

Hello All – I had a fabulous weekend in Portsmouth where I competed in the Great South Run for Macmillan Cancer Support.
I am so please to have completed the 1st part of my radiography course and have really enjoyed taking the radiographs under Jason’s supervision. I would like to thank all of our patients who have helped me do this. Now I have 4 weeks of intensive revision before the exam in December, so wish me luck!!
I recently attended the 3 day European Association of Implantology conference in Glasgow. This is a European event which attracted 3000 delegates from 70 countries! A number of lectures and satellite events with the majpr manurfacturers and world renowned speakers made for a very enjoyable and clinically relevant event. There was also a trade event where it was great to meet up with various colleagues who I havent seen in years.
Quite a busy weekend for me really as I attended a course on Saturday in Plymouth, which was about gum disease which was extremely interesting and I learnt loads. Then on the Sunday my Partner Ross, Stanley and I went for a lovely walk around Trelisick gardens...isn't this weather beautiful!!!!
When I very first started working in dentistry (17 years ago, blimey, I’m showing my age!!) missing teeth were usually replaced with dentures or bridges. Both fairly quick & simple solutions. How times have changed! We started using dental Implants about 16 years ago to replace missing teeth, and now Jeremy spends around 75% of his surgery time placing and restoring Implants; having placed about 4000 since then.
The possibilites are endless. We are now able to give people the option of completely discarding their dentures and replacing them with a full set of fixed teeth! Can you imagine what a transformation this can make to someones life? It is quite literally life changing. I have personally witnessed patients personalities completely change, they become confident, much happier, much more sociable and regain their zest for life.
Being part of a team responsible for making that happen makes me very proud – that is why I love working here.I have had some really good feedback recently from our patients about our website, which is great! What I would like to know is, what else would you like to see on it? Would you find a ‘top tips’ section useful? Would you like to see a case of the month? Let me know – feedback on how to develop our service to you is always much appreciated.

Congratulations to our lovely Laura on her engagement to Martin!!!
He popped the question to Laura over breakfast in bed on her birthday - aaaahhhh, who said romance is dead??
We wish them lots of love and happiness
Hello everyone...
Nikki has asked me to write something on our blog, due to being a new mum i have only just got around to it haha! At the moment I am on maternity leave and i am loving spending time with my son Stanley, he's the best!!!! he has now started to smile, so as you would guess, I am spending most of my days pulling silly faces at him, to see his cheeky grin.
Ross (my partner) and myself have also been decorating the nursery and after a year of living in our house we have finally decorated the kitchen. But while being knee deep in paint and looking after Stanners, I have still managed to have a few family days at the beach and having a few pub lunches with a lovely pint of Betty Stoggs.
It's my birthday tomorrow and I am very excited because I am going away for a few days. Nick and I will be scaring ourselves senseless at Thorpe Park in London! Poor Nick has never been on anything scarier than the Hornet at Flambards so I will be sure to have my camera at the ready to capture the utter terror in his face! We are then heading down to my favourite city, Bristol, for a few days by the river, taking in some shopping, food and plenty of wine…….plus the obligatory trip to Ikea on the way home.
It’s going to be great but I will miss not seeing everybody at Pure on my birthday…….. I trust that they will eat plenty of cake on my behalf!
Hello! – this is my first blog for Pure Dental so ‘hello’ everyone! I am off to Derriford Hospital today to take cephalometric x-rays as part of the Radiography Course both myself and Laura are studying. I am really looking forward to it as it will be a totally new experience and it will really help with my studies. Wish me luck!
I am now gearing up to sit my final law exams, the end is nearly in sight now but I am spending every spare moment I have drawing diagrams and sticking them up all over my house, much to my fiances dismay!
I had a really lovely experience today when a very dear patient of ours came in for an appointment. She has recently had an amazing smile makeover with Jason and when I saw her today I realised that I had never seen her smile before! She told me that was because she was embarrassed to smile, but now, there she was, absolutely beaming at me! She looked beautiful! It was lovely to witness such a huge transformation. Her husband said she has not stopped smiling……..or talking for that matter!!!
That’s why I love working here!
Welcome to ‘Whitening Wednesdays’! Pure Dental Health & Wellbeing is now offering tooth whitening for £199 on ‘Whitening Wednesdays’.
You will have a short consultation with a dentist to ensure whitening is suitable for you – in most cases we can start treatment on the day. We take impressions to get the whitening trays (specifically designed for you) made at our laboratory, you then come back for a short appointment to have the trays fitted and for us to show you how to use the whitening gel. The whitening process takes about 10 days-2 weeks in most cases and you achieve this by wearing the trays for a few hours in the evenings or overnight. To take advantage of this offer, all your appointments will be scheduled on a Wednesday – contact Livvy or myself on 01872 222404.
After what seemed like a month of rain – the sun came out at last. Now, as any of you that know me are aware, I LOVE to travel. It could be said that I’m not shy of taking holidays…………… However, I was reminded this weekend just how fabulous Cornwall can be and why so many people choose it as a holiday destination. Chris and I have been taking sailing lessons in Falmouth and so spent Saturday and Sunday on the water. The views in Falmouth bay were gorgeous and although tired, we were sorry to leave the water on Sunday. As much as I love sailing and being on the water, I have recognised in myself that I’m a good crew member, but I have no desire to drive the boat. I think that may be a metaphor? On bank holiday Monday we took the ferry to Flushing and then walked around to Mylor Harbour. I’d forgotten just how stunning that piece of coastline is, so I have resolved to keep seeing as much of it as I can. Don’t worry though, I’ll still be taking as many foreign trips as I can fit in, so I’ll still have plenty to chat with you about as you’re having your teeth scaled!!
Well that’s it folks – looks like Summer is officially over and Autumn is here! Although I love the Summer I also secretly look forward to Autumn, Cornwall becomes a little bit quieter, the temperature a little fresher and the weather is still usually lovely. A good excuse for cliff top walks and lazy pub lunches! September is also the month of my wedding anniversary and its something that Paul & I look forward to every year, this year will be 15 years and we will celebrate it the same as every year – fish and chips and a bottle of bubbly on the beach – heaven !!
I have started my radiography course and am keen and excited to develop my skills. The course is interesting but very challenging and is taking up much of my spare time, but I’m enjoying studying. Exam in December!! Watch this space!
We are delighed to welcome Laura to the Pure team. Laura will be working alongside Jason as his Dental Nurse. She has already proved to be a highly organised & skilled member of the team and genuinely loves her job. We hope that she will be with us for many years.
We are delighted to anounce the birth of our very own Pure baby!!! Our lovely Dental Nurse Jo & her partner Ross, brought the adorable Stanley Hunt into the world on the 21st July weighing in at 8lbs 7.5ozs.
Both mum and baby are doing really well and Jo is enjoying being a new mum. We wish the whole family lots of love and best wishes at this special time’
Hello All! I am asking for some help from all our lovely patients. I am running the Bupa Great South Run in Portsmouth in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on 24th October. I am hoping to raise at least £500 for this amazing charity but need your help. If you would like to make a donation, however small, please visit my ‘just giving’ site, www.justgiving.com/nikkiberryman.
In the meantime I am training 5 days a week, clocking up about 25 miles weekly at the moment. I have put a cork firmly in my beloved red wine bottle (!) and now spend evenings running/walking or cycling !!! Please, please donate today, thank-you.
Pure Dental Health have recently acquired a Carl Ziess Dental microscope: this amazing piece of high technology optical equipment allows us to see your teeth and gums at up to 15x their actual size. Alongside the extremely bright xenon light (the same as is used in BMW and Audi headlights) we can now see your teeth in very fine detail. This allows us to surpass our already high standards of precision in crowns, fillings and root canal work and diagnose fine cracks in teeth. Another advantage is that we can be less invasive and preserve more tooth structure
I wonder if anyone really understands how important a really great smile is? It still amazes me how some people think that wanting a beautiful smile makes them vain!! It is not about vanity - an amazing smile gives you the ability to eat and enjoy the foods you love - it makes you fun and more sociable - it gives you the confidence to communicate well with others - it gives you the ability to kiss those you love - it is about health and vitality. Just look at the lovely photo of our girls Jo & Lou, I’ll bet you’re smiling now!!
I have just become a Gold Member of the International Academy of Advanced Facial Aesthetics (IAAFA) The role of IAAFA is to bring colleagues together, enabling us to integrate the diverse wealth of knowledge present within this ever-evolving field, in order to enhance and regulate patient care. This dynamic organization ensures that public awareness of facial aesthetic medicine is promoted and that members are given up to date support and guidance from the Health Care Commission on all aspects of facial aesthetics.
It is relatively easy to create beautiful, natural looking plump lips using Restylane. The procedure takes about 15 minutes and the effects can last up to 6/9 months. Increasing lip definition gives the illusion of a more youthful appearance. Contact Pure today to receive a free consultation with Jeremy to see how lip plumping can work for you

I attended an intensive 3 day course on advanced facial aesthetic techniques with Dr Bob Khanna on London. In addition to the usual range of treatment involving frown lines, facial folds and lip rejuvenation we can now treat neck wrinkles, produce eyebrow lifts and with a combination of various techniques we can provide our patients with a full integrated facial rejuvenation programme using Botulinum Toxin and Restylane dermal filler. However, what was most interesting was to learn how the correction of even the smallest imperfection can make a massive difference to a patients self confidence.

Jeremy, Nikki & Keri are looking forward to the Royal Cornwall Show on 10th/11th/12th June where Pure Dental will have a stand.
Come and find us on stand number 317 and take advantage of our special offers for visitors of Royal Cornwall Show.
Nikki & Livvy had another fun day at the Eden Project wedding fayre on Sunday. The fayre was jammed packed with Cornwall’s finest providing wedding services to brides-to-be.
As always, there was a huge interest in Cosmetic Dentistry that Pure Dental has to offer. Many brides were surprised to hear that their smiles can be transformed relatively simply and as usual, there was a massive interest in our fabulous Enlighten tooth whitening system.
Nik & Livvy were also delighted to come across Nicky & Tom Grant of Nicky Grant Cakes (www.nickygrant.com). Nicky is based is Cornwall and makes the most beautiful, delicious wedding cakes and chocolate using only the finest, and often local, ingredients. If you need a cake for a special occasion, visit their website.
In April I was lucky enough to travel to Las Vegas to lecture a great group of dentists on how to place white, tooth coloured fillings for their patients.
800 dentists from all over the world attended the annual ‘Townie Meeting’ (www.towniemeeting.com) which was a fantastic success; the lecture hall was packed with people sitting on the floor and in the aisles!!
My wife Kate & I visited the Mirage Casino for a quick flutter but unfortunately we didn’t win more than a few dollars. It was an amazing experience and I was able to enjoy some precious time with my family as well as have the opportunity to lecture to my peers.
