Patients are amazed at the difference implants or cosmetic dentistry makes to their appearance and overall confidence levels. Many people tolerate an unattractive dental situation for years, but once that major negative is taken away and their teeth are no longer such a big concern, they often wish to improve other aspects of their facial appearance to match their stunning new smile. This is why Pure Dental Health and Wellbeing has extended our practice services into facial aesthetics and skincare, bringing the same level of skill and artistry to your face as we do to caring for your smile.

Younger, Fuller Lips

Lips are an important indicator of youth and vitality. Think of them as the gilded frame that goes around the magnificent work of art which is your new smile.

As we grow older, our lips can shrink, appearing thinner and more tired. Wrinkles develop around them and the lips become poorly defined. At Pure Dental Health & Wellbeing we can use the latest range of 21st century dermal fillers to add definition, support the edges of the lips and fill out wrinkles, preventing lips from collapsing into lines and retreating into the mouth.

These dermal fillers can also be used to add volume to your lips, ‘plumping' them up to make them look fuller and younger.

There is an art to the use of dermal fillers to ensure that the finished look suits your face, is not obvious and enhances your smile. It takes skill, experience and an understanding of symmetry and aesthetics, skills which our team already posses from their cosmetic and reconstructive dental experience. If you aren't happy with the way your lips appear, talk to us today.

Reduce Lines and Wrinkles

As well as improving the appearance of your lips, we can also utilise dermal fillers to reduce the effect of lines and wrinkles on the face.

Frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead lines, ‘crows' feet' around the eyes, smile lines (nasolabial lines), cheek lines and lines around the lips can all be improved.
Dermal fillers can be injected into the skin to ‘plump up' these lines, filling them in and smoothing out your skin for a younger, fresher look.

The results are immediate, the length of time the effect will last varies depending on the type of product used (there are a variety of fillers available), where on the face the correction/improvement is made, and the type of skin you have. You can expect some temporary redness or minor swelling immediately after treatment, which subsides quickly.

It is not our goal to make you look like the images you see out of Hollywood where facial treatment is often taken to the extreme, but rather to diminish the effects of time, freshen your look and stop you looking older than you are through skilled use of these dermal fillers.

Muscle Relaxing Injections

As you are probably aware, injections can now be used to relax the facial muscles.

One of the main uses of facial relaxation injections is to minimise the effect of frowning by stopping the corrugator muscles from drawing the eyebrows together. They can also be used to reduce other 'overactive' facial expressions such as excessive brow-raising or scrunching up of the ‘crows' feet' at the side of your eyes. Because the muscles are selectively targeted, there is no danger of being left expressionless.

This type of therapy was originally developed to treat facial spasms before becoming a widely accepted cosmetic tool.

The relaxing effect doesn't happen instantly. It starts two to three days after treatment and increases over the next week. The effect of facial relaxation injections usually lasts between three and eight months, but this effect improves with successive treatments. Because muscles you don't use by nature become weaker, subsequent treatments become more infrequent and perhaps, eventually, unnecessary.

The skill in carrying out this treatment is to ensure that other muscles are not affected. This is why you will be asked to actively frown during the procedure so that the appropriate muscles can be identified. The tiny injections will sting momentarily, but the whole procedure will be over in a matter of a few minutes.

After the treatment you should take care to avoid facial massages or 'bumping' the injected area for a period of one week.
